BYU-Idaho Photographics Society Print Contest
The BYU-I Photographics Society sponsors three contests per semester. The theme for this contest is Creative Self-Portraits. I chose this contest because I wanted to experiment with self-portraiture.
This shot captures the essence of my personality. I find peace in quiet solitude. Those who know me know that when I am focused, I am not really conscious of anything going on around me. That’s why I chose to make myself the object of motion blur in my self-protrait; when I am in my own world, I am not fully present in reality.
This was taken in my home using my Nikon D5000 on 6 December 2014 at 10:27 A.M. Focal length was 22 mm and the ISO was 100. Exposure was 13 secons at 5/25. I used a flash and a tripod. Post production edits include HDR edits in black and white using Photomatix.
My entry was submitted to the Photographics Society on 9 December 2014.
